The Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills Training Group, facilitated by Sharman Colosetti, LCSW, PhD, is a 24-week group designed to teach the following four DBT skills to clients who have difficulty regulating their emotions:
- Core Mindfulness – how to stay present in the moment,
- Distress Tolerance – how to survive painful emotions,
- Emotion Regulation – how to identify emotions and reduce your vulnerability to them, and,
- Interpersonal Effectiveness – how to ask for what you need, say “No,” and cope with interpersonal conflict.
Homework will be given each week, and sessions will begin with a check-in on the homework. Each group session will focus on learning and practicing a skill.
The DBT Skills Training Group is a supplement to individual therapy. Therefore, participants are required to regularly participate in individual therapy while attending the group.
An individual evaluation is scheduled prior to the group to discuss your history, current symptoms, and your commitment to learn new skills.
If you have any questions or would like to schedule an assessment for the group, please call Dr. Sharman Colosetti at 404.518.0828.
