An evolving lifestyle

I just got back from a refreshing speed walk around the neighborhood. Everything was clean from the morning rain. I was remembering swimming at the lake as a kid and getting old enough to walk the 2 miles to get there.

The Journey

Mary Oliver (1992). New and Selected Poems. One day you finally knew what you had to do, and began, though the voices around you kept shouting their bad advice – though the whole house began to tremble and you felt the old tug at your ankles. “Mend my life!” each voice cried.

Our Deepest Fear

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant,
gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
We were born to make manifest the glory that is within us.
It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously
give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.

– Marianne Williamson

I Hope You Dance

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder.

You get your fill to eat byt always keep that hunger.

May you never take one single breath for granted.
